Right before Christmas I got a surprise call from a very dear friend from college. He and his wife are expecting their first child. I am so excited for him and his wife I could hardly sit still.
So I didn’t!
I got quilting!
It has been a while since I made a baby quilt and I have a WHOLE Pinterest board of baby quilts that I have been wanting to make. I couldn’t decide which one I wanted to make.
So I didn’t!
I made two!
The first one I made was a version of the eat, sleep, play, repeat quilt that is so popular right now. My inspiration was this fabric I have had in my stash but haven’t found just the right project. It’s soooo funky and bright (fabric on the left below).
The center needed to be plain enough to see the letters appliqued on them, but I didn’t want a pure solid. I wanted some thing that would hid spit up and other baby things that happen. I didn’t have anything that fit the bill. I found this fabric that was JUST perfect (fabric on the right above).
The rest of the border fabrics and the applique fabric came from my stash.
I always have a hard time remembering to trace applique letters backwards. But this time I got it on the 1st try! Yippee! There were lots of letters to cut, but it was a good activity to keep my hands busy during the new year college football bowl games.
I haven’t yet decided to quilt this. But it’s not going on Millie until next week so I still have time to decide.
