There were several accent blocks in the quilt. Some were pieced some were applique. I wanted to do each block a little bit different. And frankly I didn’t decide what I was going to do with each block until I got to it.
The bird house block was REALLY hard to get a good picture. I did a heart meander in the background. On the bird house I sewed a circle where the hole should go, and sewed vertical lines to look like boards that would have made up a real house. I also put some feathers on the bird’s tail.
The tree was a lot of fun. I did a clam shell with a spike accent on the bottom to look like hills and grass. Then I did some loose swirls on the top to look like the wind. The tree itself received a trunk and some branches.
