Carving. It’s not just for pumpkins anymore.

I love writing posts about things we did a while ago. Because then I get to go through our old pictures and I almost always find some jewel that I totally forgot about.

And yesterday’s post about last years pumpkin carving party was no exception. It all started when Mr. Steam had an idea.

We had a bumper crop of zucchini in our garden. There was one zucchini that somehow escaped our notice for quite a while. Yep, that baby was SIX pounds and some change.

Mr Steam was quite the proud Papa. And he named his baby – Darth-cchini.

Darth-cciniSo when we all sat down to carve pumpkins, Mr Steam went and got Darth-cchini. And… some tools.

Darth-cchiniSigh. Only in the Steam household.

Then he started going to town on poor Darth-cchini. And although it’s looks like that humongous drill was over kill, it was a great way to get that flesh out of something so long and narrow.

Dath-cchiniIn the end he had a true Darth-cchini.

Dath-cchiniAnd Darth-cchini had a place of honor with the other mundane carved pumpkins.

Dath-cchini

I can only wonder what Mr. Steam will come up with this year.
